Garnier Moisture Match: Goodbye Dry | Review

For a while now, I've been using Simple's hydrating moisturiser, but I decided to change it up a bit and I've seen quite a bit of hype over Garnier's new Moisture Match range. I was a little "should I, shouldn't I?" for a while, so I went on their website where I discovered a set of questions to determine which out of the five moisturisers I should be using. (You can find the quiz here - it honestly only takes a minute to fill out.) As I'd already as I'd already assumed, my result was 'Goodbye dry...'.

I love the fact that with this moisturiser, you can feel it having an effect on your skin the moment it's rubbed in. You only need a pea-sized amount - in this case a little really does go a long way. I think the product itself is a little small, but at £3 I hardly have anything to moan about. The original price was £6, but Asda currently have a rollback on them, so go and grab them now if you can!

I also love that it acts as a brilliant make-up primer, and I advise you to use it morning and night after washing for the best effect. It has camellia oil in it, which means it's an intensive moisturiser for the dry parts of your skin and yet still leaves the skin feeling nourished and smooth.

I only purchased this two days ago, and I already love it. The other four options of the 'Moisture Match' collection are:
  • Shine be gone
  • Start afresh
  • Protect and Glow
  • Wake me up

I really advise you to try these out, they're worth the money!

An Apology!

So, I haven't exactly been the most active of bloggers, and I don't really have any excuses, oops. I haven't really been into writing really, whether it's fictional or reviewing something for you guys. And then there's been quite a lot of drama within my family and I've been caught up in that, and now I'm rambling. I promise you that I will be posting something tomorrow afternoon or tomorrow evening, and I hope that I can create some sort of posting schedule for this because recently I've been quite organised - what a shock.

So, I shall leave you with this until tomorrow, bye! x

Music Update!

Howdy! I hope you're all having a really good day wherever you are. So, for today's post, I wanted to do something a little different. It's just a little music update on four artists/bands I'm really loving lately.

The first band is Of Monsters and Men. They're a band from Iceland who's music is so relaxing and beautiful. It's different to what's trending lately and I think that's why I love them. (I'm actually listening to them as I'm writing this)

Taylor Swift. I don't want any comments about her countless boyfriends (c'mon. she's 23 and she's had 6.) because this woman is my idol. I believe in everything she stands for and her music is always there for me to cheer me up. I've been to her Speak Now Tour and I'll definitely be going to the Red Tour when it's in the UK.

Bastille. The first song I'd heard from Bastille was Pompeii and I loved the unique sound and elements to it. I've only heard a couple more of Bastille's songs, but I'll definitely be listening to more soon.

Imagine Dragons. Oh, my dear sweet Jesus. If you've never listened to this AMAZING band, you really need to. I love love love love LOVE their music! I'm so obsessed. Especially with Radioactive, Amsterdam and Demons. Really though, listen to them! I also learned how to play Radioactive on guitar :D

Aussie Miracle Moist Shampoo & Conditioner | Review

Howdy! Today I am going to be doing my first beauty review (yay!) and I picked a shampoo and conditioner brand and type that I've been loving for a few months now. AUSSIE: Miracle Moist.

About five months ago, I ombre'd 2/3 of my hair and for a while I was using Herbal Essences shampoo and conditioner (Which I think are really good, by the way. They just didn't do the same job as Aussie did.) but the bleached part of my hair felt so dry. It felt like straw, basically. So, I went into Boots one day for some foundation, and my friend needed some hairspray so we went down the hair aisle. This was where I discovered Aussie.

This shampoo and conditioner has done my hair wonders. It's now soft, moist and above all, it smells amazing! I love the smell of Aussie. It reminds me of bubblegum. So I would completely recommend this brand to anyone with dry bleached hair as in a week of washing my hair I noticed a difference.

My only problem with it is a problem that I can't control unfortunately. My hair is so soft most of the time, so I keep touching it and messing with it but after countless times of repeating this process, my hair becomes very greasy. (Which I'm not complaining about because I get to re-use Aussie, yay!)

At boots when I picked them up, they were £4.49 each, so I think they're still around that price. Personally, I think the price is brilliant for the efficiency of the product.

I give this a 9/10.

The Fault in Our Stars - John Green | Review

Well... Today is a big day. My first book review on my blog! I don't know about you, but I'm excited about it. It didn't take much for me to decide which book I was going to write about as the excellence that is John Green's writing has been taking up a lot of my time recently. Also, I'd just like to point out that when I fix my camera, I will be using my own images.

Despite the tumour-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel's story is about to be completely rewritten.
Insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw, The Fault in Our Stars is award-winning author John Green's most ambitious and heartbreaking work yet, brilliantly exploring the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love.

Unless you've been living under a rock, or you're not an avid tumblr user or reader, you'll know that this book has been gathering a lot of public hype lately. I'd been looking into buying a John Green novel for a while now and whether it was the reason it was the first John Green book I caught my eye on in Waterstones, or whether it was fate that this book would begin my John Green adventure, I'll never know.

In his writing, John Green has this marvellous ability to insert his own humour into his characters. While sometimes they can be pretentious and annoying, they have a reason to be. They're suffering with Cancer for Christ's sake, of course they're not going to be all sunshine and unicorns. If you watch the 'vlogbrothers' channel on YouTube, you can tell that it is indeed John Green's personality and philosophical nature he implements into Hazel and Augustus's characters.

This book made me laugh, made me angry and made me bawl like a baby. I'm not going to give away any spoilers to future readers, but by the last sentence I think I had almost drowned in my own tears. The usage of John Green's words and metaphors were captivating and they really make you think about things.

While I think Hazel and Augustus rushed into their relationship, I have no reason to question it. They're not sure how long they're going to live and so they will want to experience every part of life they can while they're still on earth.

Overall, I'd give this book a 10/10, no questions asked.

Thank you for reading, and I hope you'll be kind enough to stick with my blogging journey. My next post will be beauty related, so I look forward to it. -Hollie (beautyfulbooks)
